Dear all,

Is it possible to fix the errors of the past? Well, I hope you know my thoughts on that by now! My belief is that everything is possible. Time travel is possible, if you come to the understanding that our past is a perception. Everything that we experienced in our past resides in our heads alone. Certainly, shared times with our friends and families are remembered by everyone involved, but their perception of what happened at those events belongs to them alone. One of the participants might still be carrying the shame of something he or she did or said, while you have no memory of a shameful event happening at all. It might even be you that feels the shame, and thinks that everyone remembers your horrible faux pas. I can still remember times when I felt I let down my team (baseball, mostly; I suck at baseball) in physical education class. I went to thirteen different schools when I was a kid. Do you think anyone remembers me at all? I doubt it.

And yet, if I stop and think about it, I also excelled on many occasions. I don't think any of my schoolmates remember me for those events, either. They certainly aren't tracking me down to talk about it. My past really does belong to me alone.

But maybe you're worried about your more recent past. The way you were with your child last night. Or that you forgot about some cataclysmic event in one of your friends' lives. Or you wish you could take back the harsh words you said to your mother or significant other.

How can we cleanse ourselves of the past events that haunt us, whether they happened ten years ago, or last night?

Here's where the beautiful construct of possibility comes to the rescue. All possibilities arise in every moment, never ending, always available. Today, we can make different choices than yesterday. We can make different choices than we made five minutes ago. And there are two major choices we can make that will change our past. One, we can go back into our past, and find the threads of the dream life we've been wanting to create - the places where we were wonderful, powerful, and self-possessed. We can go back and find the evidence that our dream life is destined to come true, and that we have the power to make it happen. We can rewrite our histories to emphasize those moments, rather than the ones that steal our power.

Two, we can begin to write a new past - one that starts right now, one that always begins in the present--and leave a golden trail of possibility in our wake.

The time and energy you expend worrying about the past is being taken directly out of the time and energy you have available to create and live the life of your dreams. Divert that time and energy at the peril of your happiness.

Wishing you every possibility--

--Kim
