How do you tell people what you do? And is that even the right question?

What Do You Do?

I have several ways to communicate my value proposition, depending upon the audience, the setting and how I’m feeling on any given day.

Sometimes I just say, pithily: “I’m the woman you call when your progress is stalled.”

Other times I say, “I help people discover new possibilities for achieving their desired results, and then execute powerfully on them.”

Every so often I say, “Well, you know when a business owner or professional seems to be stuck at a particular level of achievement, and can’t quite figure out how to get any traction? (“Sure.”) I help that person get very clear about what to do, and then partner with them to help them actually do it.”

In a longer conversation I might talk about my business background in marketing, sales and operations leadership; my book, and the scientific process I developed to help people achieve; and how I bring those two together to help my clients accelerate results in their personal and professional lives.

People generally understand these things pretty well.  But lately, I’ve been compelled to add my “why.”  And I wanted to share that with you because then you’ll know me better, and hopefully it will help you to figure out your “why,” if you haven’t figured it out already.

So, why do I do what I do?

In a sentence, I’m passionate about helping people take the blinders off and become the inspired, powerful creators that they truly are.

Most of us are blind to the infinite possibilities that are available to us. We’re trapped in our repetitive, well-practiced thinking and our perceptions of how the world works.

But I can tell you with scientific certainty, that’s not how it works.

That shedding and letting go process…the discovery and embracing of a new way…developing the willingness to do it differently, to be it differently…that’s what I guide my clients through.

And finally, ignited with their own pure spark, they go on and create exactly what they want to create, without consideration for what the rest of the world thinks. Oh, sure, they create financial success.  But what they revel in most is that they became who they wanted to be: someone who has figured out how to git-r-done.

The best part is that through this process of helping others take off their universal blinders, I also take mine off, because of course, the blinders are not just on or off, black or white, zero or one.  It’s a bit-by-bit reveal, a continuum of discovery and adventure, and I am on the journey, too.

That’s my why.  I would love to hear yours.  Will you comment on this post and share it?  Thanks for reading!
