In a recent speech I gave to the members of the Latin Business Club at a recent awards ceremony, I shared with them the concept of saying, “Sure!”  to propel their careers.  I encouraged them to say “Sure!” when they were asked to take on new responsibility–even without pay.  

Sound crazy?  I’ve been promoted a dozen times in my career, and “Sure!” is one of the main reasons why.  Although I might not have received a big enough title with the responsibility, or I got a lot more responsibility without pay, eventually the recognition and pay came to me because I was willing to step up first.

Here’s what I now know: the universe has about 100 million ways to deliver your desired outcome to you.  You may not recognize it at first when it shows up, because you’ve crafted a vision of the delivery mechanism in your head, and it doesn’t match up.  When you resist those sorts of offers and say “no” to them, you slow down the possibility amplification process dramatically.  That resistance creates friction against your forward motion.

By letting go of your idea of the path, and instead following the markers the universe is providing, you will open yourself up to and be able to access more possibility.  And that’s where success lies.

What’s the worst that can happen? You learn a lesson.  Or you learn a new skill.  Or you…get promoted!
